HMRC Announcement
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has recently announced that it will stop sending copies of certain documents to taxpayers’ agents and advisers as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
The forms which we will no longer receive a copy of are:
- P2 – PAYE coding notice.
- P800 – Tax calculation.
- SA250 – Notification of Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) and requirement to complete Self Assessment tax return.
- SA251 – Letter to advise that Self Assessment tax return is no longer required.
The following forms have been suspended, pending a review by HMRC:
- P810 – Targeted review form
- SA252 – Letter to taxpayers who do not submit a Self Assessment tax return but are liable to tax at the higher rate
Many of our clients rely on us to keep an eye on such communications on their behalf. In the past this has proved very useful for spotting HMRC errors or problems at an early stage.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SEND US COPIES IN FUTURE.
Please feel free to send us copies of any communications that you receive from HMRC whatsoever, not just the above forms, and PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT WE WILL HAVE RECEIVED COPIES AS BEFORE.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contacts our tax partner Paul Guilfoyle, or Helen Lewis on 01932 336149.
